Dear Mars,

This is 2020 and since 2001 you have been talking about removing child labour from your supply chain, that will soon be 20 years! We recognise efforts have been made and that your chocolate company program Sustainable in a Generation plan is making progress. We also recognise the commitment to implement robust child labour and forced labour monitoring and remediation systems for 100% of at-risk families in our cocoa supply chains by 2025.

We would certainly agree with your slogan/statement that: The world we want tomorrow starts with how we do business today.

Now it is time to put it all together!

We recognise the work of Mars in developing the discovery of the genome of cocoa and generously sharing it with others, your environmental developments and excellent carbon footprint management as well as your 4 pillars to make communities child safe through the:

- Robust Child and Forced Labour Monitoring and Remediation Systems

- Women’s Social and Economic Empowerment

- Increasing Access to Quality Education and Development Opportunities for Children

- Increasing Income for cocoa farmer families

We are asking for your commitment to a CLMRS (Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System) on 100% of your sourcing farms in West Africa to be brought in as soon as possible – before 2025.

We also believe a commitment to paying a price for the cocoa above the

the Government Living Income Differential (LID) and

the regular certification premiums,

will be a key step to prevent child labour and forced labour abuse.

We look forward to you publishing increased robust commitments around these matters.

Thank you in anticipation
